I naively thought this would work as a stand-alone summer vest, but it would only if you wanted to go braless and show off your stuff, so I'm pretty disappointed that it was depicted this way in the online catalog. Nevertheless, it's a nice true red that will work for all the occasions like 4th of ...July, Christmas, and Valentine's day, but not without a tee or cami underneath. I agree with one other reviewer that the patch pockets add bulk right below the bust, so I don't love this vest as much as I expected to. I tried on both the medium and large and decided for a more relaxed fit with the large. I generally wear a 10 in Gap clothes, but like a relaxed fit with sweaters.
I bought a brown one first. I love the colour but it shrank a lot washing/drying despite following instructions. So I ordered another one in red as wanted a size bigger so once washed it still fit. Unless you lay flat to dry I would size up to be able to dry without worry of shrinking.

I love this vest. Very soft and comfortable. A relaxed fit. Looks great with a pair of jeans or with a top under it with some slacks for the office. I bought the blue and the color looks just like the picture. Hits just below the button on my mid-rise jeans.
