Finally a v-neck that cuts low enough to be elevated but not show a bra underneath! I am a 34 DDD/F with slightly wider shoulders, smaller waist but with wide hips. I typically don't wear fitted shirts because they end up with a loose budge in the middle due to my wider shoulders and hips. However, ...the fit of this shirt and many others from GAP do a perfect job of hugging to my shape while also being thick enough to staying smooth. I liked this first one so much, I also purchased the sleeveless version and a few other cuts from GAP since. Ill be keeping an eye on GAP for future staples :) I wear this top with jeans, shorts, as a layer in a business casual outfit, etc. the shape and material is very versatile and easy to style. For reference, I'm 35, hourglass body shape, with a slightly athletic build.
The V is too low on these for me; if I pick up my child while wearing this shirt, it immediately pulls to expose my bra. I purchased this shirt back in 2021 in the same size (Large Tall) and those were perfection. These 2026 versions have a V that is 2.25 inches lower than the version from 2021. The... body length and sleeve length are also 1 inch shorter than my older version. It's tighter in the body too, though my old ones are likely stretched out from wear. I'm not sure how the V of this current version looks so much higher on the models in the photos, but that is not how it hits on me at all! See my photos for a comparison of the 2021 version (black) to the 2026 version (navy), and for how the 2026 version fits me. The sizing is small based on the size chart. My bust is 37", waist is 31", hips are 39.5" (putting me between Med & Large on the size chart) and I have a bit of a mom pooch. The Large Tall is snug on me and at 26" long it's the shortest length I'd be comfortable wearing. I still love this fabric, which is thicker than any other nice basic tee I've found. Because of the thickness, I find it to be more smoothing and forgiving of the bumps and bulges around my midsection where my jeans waistband hits. I've found this fabric to be comfortable to wear in the hot humid summers of North Carolina. I'll be giving this shirt away (I removed the tag & wore for a day) and trying the crew neck version in a size up. Bring back the higher V-neck, please!!!!

The black version of this shirt is the perfect basic, with a great weight and stretchiness. I had to return the white one because it felt completely different, much thinner weight and less forgiving (and see through).

I hope that Gap decides to revert back to the thicker, nicer cotton stretch modern fit in years past, because I have bought them for years, despite having very limited color offerings of gray, navy, and black. I tried these on, and they are much tighter and lighter with a small ribbed effect. They were so silly on me, I sent them back the next day. I have loved the modern fit, but 2025 brought the oddly longer short-sleeves, and 2026 this oddity. Do what you want, but don't market it as modern fit if yore.

The fit is great but the stitching on the sleeve unravelled after the first wear so the quality just isn't there. Esp at that cost.
