I normally wear 28/29 at the Gap, size 8 petite or small/mediums in bottoms. I ordered the brown shorts in size M, M Tall and L Tall, for extra length and a relaxed fit. I usually size up for shorts in general. I ended up keeping the L Tall, they felt better, the length and fit was overall better. Both mediums fit as well, but they felt a little more pedestrian, not as slouchy as I wanted. I also anticipate that this gauzy cotton will shrink in the wash.

Perfect shorts for the beach. The length suits me, they're short, but they're perfect for the lake.

Absolutely love the denim color, fit and sizing. But first time I washed them they got a giant (quarter sized whole) in them at the waist band. Super weird because I have lots of cotton gauze clothing and I've never had a problem. Plus these feel heavier than other ones I have. Such a bummer and waste.

I'm returning as you can see straight through the white shorts and clearly see the entirety of the pockets. The gauze is also very thin unfortunately and doesn't feel quality whatsoever.
