I wear a tall size and I have wasted so much money purchasing t-shirts since they discontinued the "old" Modern T-Shirt. I could not find anything that matched the quality of the modern tee and I didn't like the one with the slightly longer sleeves that Gap was offering. This "new" modern t-shirt... fits the bill and I'm ready to get rid of all the mediocre shirts I bought from other places trying to find that "perfect" fit of Gap's Modern T-Shirt. This one is not quite at soft as the old one but the fit is really nice and it is still thicker than most Ts on the market. Time for me to purchase more!
I've been wearing a variation of the Modern t-shirt since the 90s…it wasn't even called modern at that point. Im the last couple years, the cut and quality of fabric has changed. The fabric while initially soft and visually appealing, pills much more quickly with just normal wear and it is overall, ...thinner. While the fabric composition has been the same for several years, there is a quality difference in those fibers. If you are GenZ or a young millennial, you may not realize this and think this stuff is great, but for anyone older, it's a bit of a bummer. The reality is, everything has gone down in quality, and one has to find a balance between affordable price and quality expectations. But, I'm not quite sure if Gap is really that much better than Old Navy is certain things. Today's Gap is probably close to ON quality from 5-10 years ago. My daughter has a pair of jeans from Gap that are less than 2-3 year old and already has holes where the pockets were sewn to the backside. And, these where not lightweight cotton. So, buy the shirts, they certainly aren't trash. But buy them on sale, wash on cold, dry lightly on low, and then hang to dry. And be prepared to deal with pilling!

I love the of the modern T-shirts. I have a bunch of black and a bunch of navy. The short sleeve, the long sleeve, the V-neck and the round neck, but just those two colors honestly have no idea what in the world gap is doing with the other colors. Is the person who's picking out the colors colorblind? These are the world's ugliest ugliest colors. Maybe you should put a new person in charge of the color because these are a complete joke. There's no way a person with light olive skin could wear any of these without looking fuggly.

Absolutely love this T-shirt! It fits perfectly and feels amazing. Just the right amount of cling to be comfortable, but not sloppy. I went back and bought it in 3 colours and will be a great start to my capsule wardrobe!

I have looked everywhere for solid t-shirts that weren't thin and see through. I also wanted a tee that fit my curves and wasn't boxy or lost its shape. These tees check all of those boxes. They cling just the right amount that I don't feel like I'm wearing a sack and they do not lose their shape. They are also NOT see through!! I bought two of the white & came back for 5 other colors. I tossed every other brand solid tee in my closet. These will forever be my go to! Everyone needs these in their closet as a basic tee collection. I did size up one size because I wanted a little extra length and they fit me perfect. For reference I am 5'3" 165lbs, 36D & I ordered XL. I hope they add more colors to the collection so I can order more.
