I was in between size 4 and 5 for my 4.5 year old. She is a little on the taller side, glad I went with 5. I think there size 4 would have fit her, but likely too short and the size 5 will give her a little room to grow in. They are perfect for under dresses for back to school. These shorts are definitely short, suppose good for under dresses for an older child. I think i prefer something a little longer for my toddler. Also - the embroidered bear! some of the styles had it touching the skin :-/ while others had a little tag on the waistband. GAP, please find a skin-frie...ndly way to do the bear. #sweepstakes
