Size up if you don't want them to high rise. They are at my belly button or higher so I wouldn't say that's mid rise. I got the 10 tall and wanted to exchange for 12 regular so they will fit lower on my waste.
Love these, but need a little breaking in. The denim is on the heavier side which makes it hard to reach for them during the summer. Yet the length hits at the ankle. But cute pant.

Love the green color - I'm 5'0" 165lbs and the Petite 14 fit best. Three stars because the amount of fabric coupled with the cargo pockets on the outer bulge of the barrel design was just too much for my small frame. It was far more pronounced than the picture. So if you're taller and wearing a smaller size these will look great. Short wearing a larger size equals stumpy, unfortunately.
