The pictures don't do this color justice; it looks so much better in person! It has a subtle washed/faded look rather than being pitch black, so looks more stylish and unique than other black denim jackets. I've gone through 3 sizes trying to find the right one: M Tall > M > S. I ended up keeping t...he Medium, even as a tall guy at 6'5". The sleeves are long enough but the body is still nice and cropped, which suits my style more. The M Tall was too long and swallowed up my belt line. The small had the best body fit but was too stubby in the sleeves. A Small Tall would be perfect, but those don't exist. I just wish Gap dropped their obsession with oversized everything; it makes ordered online a constant gamble. More true to size pieces would be appreciated. Overall, great jacket, super versatile, stylish, and modern. Just wish it was slimmer in the body. If you're not so tall, I'd recommend sizing down 100%.
If you have nothing to compare it to, this is not a bad jacket. However: I have a (really, really) old version of this jacket that was fraying pretty badly on the collar, so I thought I'd go ahead and get a new one. What a disappointment! First of all, although not a deal-breaker, the weight of ...the denim used is much less than the original. This new version was 1/2 pound lighter than my old jacket. Second, and again not a deal-breaker, the material creating the inside pockets has some padding on the original, while it is just a patch of denim on the new jacket. Finally, the thing that made me return this jacket: The patch pockets are almost 3/4" narrower on the new jacket. I couldn't even get my cell phone into them. I took my old jacket to a tailor who removed the collar, patched the fraying bit, reversed it and reattached it. $10 later, I have a like-new original.

Overall when first purchased it looks really nice. I went size bigger because I like wearing hoodies under and fit just nice. At first I thought some of the comments of it being washed were just crazy talk or bad product but they were spot on. I did 1, yes just 1 wash and followed the instructions and the color faded like I had been wearing it for 2-3 years. I had only worn it once as well. The light blue-wash color turns like nasty blue color. I'm disappointed for the first time from buying from Gap. Any material like these I'm buying from the other brands that focus on such material. Never had an issue with gap before.

This jacket is, in every way possible, exactly what it says it is. A classic denim jacket that elevates whatever it is paired with - with jeans? The true Canadian Tuxedo! With dressier clothes? Sublime. It sounds funny to consider denim as an investment piece, but it is. Truly iconic.

gapcanada.ca/Definitely made for males — jacket is broad shouldered and narrow waisted, and sleeves were comically long. I had better luck with sizing up with Tall Women's jacket. The light denim is different than pictured — more of an acid wash look.
