Like many other long term Boatneck T-Shirt buyers I'm disappointed in the current fabric quality. It's thin. Gap continues to reduce the quality to meet a price point. It's sad. I've been buying this style for years because the style is very flattering on me but I'm about done with ordering. They ar...e starting to look like stretchy polyester jersey and not cotton. I definitely wouldn't order white. The style is great Gap but please stop reducing the quality of the materials. You're ruining a great classic hard to find and flattering neckline T-shirt and btw add some more colors.
Ive worn the modern fit boatneck Ts for years, always purchasing in black, white, grey and navy. It's usually an incredibly flattering fit with a graceful neckline that goes with just about everything. I just received some white ones and was pretty disappointed to see the quality fall off. Now made ...in Cambodia rather than Indonesia, the material is much thinner and less substantial, has a coarser feel to it, and the stitching on the neckline is no longer the thick smooth edge it once was, but now a thin, doubled over hem that doesnt lay as flat. I dont have confidence these will hold up as well as my previous once have, which is a shame. I also purchased more of the crewneck modern Ts and those look and feel the same as before, so it's apparently just an issue with the boatneck. If this is your first time purchasing, you wont notice Im sure, but for those who are repeat purchasers, as many are, be aware of the sad change.

Soft cotton, nice neckline and cut. Fits on the large size, with really long sleeves.

This boatneck has a weird shape at the neck. It doesn't lay flat. I bought in 3 colors and they all lay the same way. Unfortunate because I love a boatneck. I had high hopes. Didn't work for me.

The neckline isn't the same as it used to be in this style. Not only was the quality of fabric cheaper but also the neckline didn't sit the way it should. I've purchased this style 2 times in the past (in multiple colours) and this was not the same quality. I returned them and won't purchase again in the future.

gapcanada.ca/Like a few others have posted I'm very disappointed in this version of the boatneck t-shirt. I have ordered this shirt previously and felt that the quality has really gone down. Cotton used to be thick and neckline sleek- now this feels like an old navy t-shirt. I won't be ordering this again.

I love the fit but the material and construction seem a bit cheap.

gapcanada.ca/I love everything about this top ( purchased a medium - 130lbs; 5'4). It fits well on the body. Not too tight or lose. My only complaint is the neckline pops up a bit at both ends at the shoulder. I am lucky I can sew, so I created a new shoulder seam which takes the bumps out.

gapcanada.ca/I have three modern boat neck T-shirts from many, many years ago. I have worn them and worn them and they've held up, except they're looking slightly fuzzy from pilling. I decided to get some new ones. Honestly, not impressed at all by the quality. The fabric is thinner than my older T's. The length is not as long. But the MOST disappointing part, is the neckline is totally different. The older versions of the Modern boat neck T have a thicker, flat neck band all the way around. With double stitching at the bottom. The new T's have a thin and cheaply sewn, thin neck band. It changes the look of the T-shirt COMPLETELY. The shirt doesn't lay the same on your shoulders or neck line and doesn't look as expensive and tailored as the older T's. I've noticed in the past couple of years, that the quality of the fabrics are changing on old favorites that people want to replenish and some of the designs are altered slightly, for the worse. Some of the gap merchandise now seems like it should've been bought at Old Navy. For the prices that the gap is charging, this is unacceptable. The clothes used to be quality fabric, quality sewing and quality details. I'm not finding that the case now. I don't know why they have to ruin a good thing? Except it must all be about the dollars. Yet they're still charging high prices, but giving us clothing that is of poorer quality. They used to be my go to for quality products. They need to up their game, because I'm tired of having to send things back. These will be going back.
