Lots of designers and brands are selling some versions of the "paperbag" jeans currently. These ones by GAP are a pretty simple and straightforward version that is surprisingly easy to fit and also flattering when worn. They have a somewhat dressier look, but with casual wear construction. There ...are no pesky pleats, cheap drawstrings, or restrictive closures to make a nightmare of fit, just a pull-on all-around elasticated waist that also allows a bit of sizing flexibility. The wash is a welcomed clean, deep indigo. The fabric is a sturdy mid-weight. The cut is as modeled, relaxed in the waist/hip/butt and loosest at the mid-leg before tapering neatly to a lower ankle length. The back pockets are well-sized and placed. These are good pants, pretty and comfortable. My one complaint is the stretchy waist band isn't firm enough to stay in place. It slides down easily, in part due to the heavier fabric. However, there are belt loops, so I guess that's one possible fix. I find sizing to run big and opted to keep the smaller of my two usual sizes, which offers a cleaner silhouette with still a relaxed fit. I am considering trying another size down for a slimmer look, but don't know if that will work. These are good alternatives to regular jeans.

These are comfortable jeans but order a size or 2 down. I ordered Short and they still hit the bottom of my heel. The photos seem to be inaccurate when it comes to length. Hopefully these will shrink some. If not they will become a lounging pant.
