So I can't resist a good piece of outerwear so I ordered it. I really wanted to hate it. It's expensive and god knows I don't need another trench. I'm 5" and like oversized so I ordered the s/m. I love it. Yes, it's a stiffer material. Yes, it runs big. But it is also incredibly well made and super ...interesting and, yes, fashion-y and cool. To start, it has a lot to say at the top/front. Oversized epaulettes and double flaps. Then it has the two large very functional flap pockets. When unbelted, it creates a unique untraditional silhouette. Just an interesting looking front. If untied ( and I'd be tempted to remove the belt if worn this way ) the back has extra material and tents away from the body. You can't really see this in photos and I really like this. Then the best way to tie it is to start around the back and then to the front. This creates a bunched effect that is very of the moment— also with that back volume. Someone really thought this out and I'm there for it. It's cool.
This was my number 1 item on my wishlist to get. I was ecstatic to actually get it as many of items sold out quickly. A different take on the classic trench. I was quite disappointed when it arrived. It felt amiss. The material while stiff felt very substantial. I liked that. The jacket was not line...d but the color of the inside layer was a very nice touch. The fit was extremely oversized and the belt is hidden. Meaning it went through the jacket as opposed to around it. This left an opening where the belt loops sit. This is a nice touch style wise but I did not like the opening as I could see wind and other weather conditions getting through. Being that the belt is hidden it makes it difficult to cinch the jacket without closing it completely. Sadly I will return. But I love the concept.

Didn't love the feet nor the fabric. It's very oversized, unfortunately. Ended up returning :(

Unfortunately I had to return it because it's about 5 sizes too big. I got the S, my usual size, and I was swimming in it. I think even the XXS/XS will be too big for me. It's too bad, because the style and quality are very nice and chic.

I purchased this trench the minute the collection launched. I purchased my normal size which is a S (S/M) and as others have noted, it was huge. I'm petite and the S/M swallowed me whole. I exchanged it for the XS/S once it restocked and it was very obvious that I received an item that has been previously returned. There was no inner packaging and several areas of the belt and front closure where the stitching was sloppy and coming undone. I didn't even try the XS/S on because my assumption is if I were to exchange due to the stitching quality, I would receive similarly packaged returned product that clearly hadn't been inspected for quality. For the price, this just doesn't work for me. That said, I actually love the oversized style, the purple lining detail and the thickness of the coat and really wish Gap would get it together so I could receive (and keep) this in the smaller size. #sweepstakes

Ok so yes.... this coat runs extremely large. I initially tried on an L/XL, and it was laughably huge on me. (I usually weara. XL/XXL/1X. The S/M, however, fits me like it was made for me. I love the detailing. The flaps on the front are tacked down so they don't stand away from the body. The purple lining is so pretty. The fabric in general is amazing. I don't know what is wrong with some of the people in these reviews, but a trench should not be drapey. The stiffer, thicker, tighter weave of this jacket means it will likely be pretty water resistant. I also really like how the belt goes inside the back of the jacket, giving a sort of trapeze coat effect. All in all, this is a really high quality, well detailed, classic-with-a-twist trench. I love it.

This trench coat is very stylish and of great quality. It's a little stiff but very good for cooler days.

Nice but didn't notice there wasn't any lining on the inside of the coat. It doesn't look intentional, it just looks unfinished. The belt goes THROUGH the coat so the waist isn't cinched all the way around AND there are two holes on the side which will inevitably have wind going through making the "trench" impractical. Gap is not a nonsense brand. Going back.
