So I've been on the hunt for a good trench coat for weeks. I just got mine today and I'm already obsessed with it and cannot WAIT to wear it on my next work trip. It's a quality coat for sure. It is lined in cotton in case anyone needed that info as I did not see it on the site. I thought I wanted... a satin type lining but I think with the water repellency that the satin would make it super hot and not breathable. I'm happy with the lining. The little details are nice. The buttons, the collar strap, the leather buckles etc. Now, this is a full length trench, which is what I wanted so I am thrilled with it but if you are looking for like a midi length, maybe look at the Gap Icon trench coat. I ordered an XL. I'm 5'10" and probably 165? I didn't want it super fitted so I can wear sweaters, etc under it and not be tight fitting.
The belt is not as pictured. In the photos it has seems running through it, but the one delivered does not and is much less high end. Also there's a difference between baggy or oversized and looking like you're smuggling pillows under your clothes. I'm 5'10" 165 with broad shoulders and I'm absolute...ly swimming in a medium, yet any small and the sleeves would be too short. The sizing on the belt is also totally unrealistic for the size of the jacket, it's so tight there's no way I'd be able to wear any layers underneath and it also sets at the rib cage, not the waste, so it's pretty uncomfortable as it restricts proper breathing. On the positive side the material feels very high quality and the detailing is very nice. No way I'd pay full price for this though and really wish the belt issues were fixed

This is a lovely coat, but the design and proportions were just all over the place for this jacket. As per the description, I sized down by 1 size but it's sooo oversized I think I could've went down another size. But then there's another issue - although the jacket is oversized, the belt and neck are narrowly sized. For instance, the belt doesn't have enough hoops so you have to tighten it to the point of a nonexistent waist, thus making the belt not functional like others have mentioned. As for the neck area, you can't wear the funnel neck portion of the coat at all, which is probably why they had their models wear a medium in the photos - but then the sizing would be too large for most of us who are not tall like models. Gap truly should've done better and made the jacket functional, before deciding to just put it on final sale to get rid of all of the stock. This was so incredibly disappointing for a collection that had such major potential.

You cannot advertise a trench that looks a certain way and sell me one that looks completely different with a non-functional cheap belt. We should all get full refunds, that is false advertising. There are already several comments mentioning the same things, yet you continue to sell it at over $140. Please do better!!

It is a very cute coat but it is definitely big. I normally wear a large, but I ordered a medium and it was still big on me. It is for someone tall, I'm 5'7 and with 3in heels it still looks long.

The trench is oversized however the sleeve length is shorter than you would think. Seeing how the trench itself is long! Also the opening of the hands is too big. And also the neck of the jacket and the one the model is wearing is different?? And the buckle for the belt is dark brown not the coppery brown you see in the photo.

It is a gorgeous trench for a tall woman. Overall, the fit is good; however, for such a long coat, the sleeve length could have been longer. I am 6'1" and ordered size M. I usually choose size L for outerwear, but after reading the reviews, I opted for M. As the trench is quite oversized, I could have chosen size S, but in that case the sleeves would have been too short. The collar locking mechanism is extremely tight and almost impossible to fasten on your own. These are minor issues for a tall woman. The main disappointment was that the triangular fabric flap shown on the model's left side in all photos — a very beautiful detail — was missing from the item I received.

Beautiful full length trench. As a tall woman this hits close to my ankle. Well made, well tailored coat. Lots of traditional details and accented with sturdy findings. When I put this on I immediately turn into a French spy :) Think Nikita….haha

This trench is really nice, the color is great. But it is huge! I wear a medium in most Gap items. I bought a small based on the description of this trench. The small is still too big and too long. It is 3" from my ankle and I am 5' 6" and it is pretty overwhelming. If you are tall this is a great buy.

Beautifully designed classic trench coat in navy with thoughtful, well-executed details. The body length and sleeve length are ideal for a tall frame, which is often hard to find. Excellent quality and value. Well done, Gap Studio team.
