This sweater is lovely and a beautiful heritage piece. However, this is vastly smaller than similar gap sweaters. The other 100% cotton sweaters I have from this season are all XS - I'm 5'9" and 120lbs, I have to size up to a L to get a similar fit - otherwise the sleeves are SO short and the sweate...r looks too cropped. My normal XS or S literally looks like a child's sweater. I'd take at least one, if not two, sizes up from your normal GAP sweater size.
Sure, IF you figured out the work-around to order this in Tall XL to get the actual fit pictured - as so many did - and IF you didn't order the brown, this could be an ok sweater. The construction is great, the sizing is just for toddlers. But to keep selling that brown version - which is beautiful ...- with a super locked-in stench of rotting onions is so disappointing to a decades-long loyal customer. It's just plain dishonest to sell these as first quality garments. Shame on GAP.

ordered a few sizes in this. petite S fit me perfectly. shoulder measurements were the same in petite but arms and body length were a couple inches shorter.

This sweater is just what I was hoping for - great collar and mid-weight. It falls right around my waist. I am usually a small, and I ordered the white in a size large. I'm saying this "runs small" if you want a slouchy, roomy sweater. Even in the large, I wouldn't say it's "oversized". Can't speak to what it's like if you order your true size.
