I don't know who made up that sizing guide but obviously if you are a women's medium you shouldn't order the medium if that is also supposed to fit a men's medium. I got the ones with the waist band they are soooo cute. Unisex so slightly larger than expected in the best way!! They touch the floor so when I roll them once for the waistband to show they fit perfect, M 5'7 girlie for reference. Also totally comfortably baggie and pockets. I got a pair for my bf too and his were also pretty big so just be aware if that's not ur jam:)
