It is a stretchy material, so if you a true medium, you can go to a size small. If you want it loose than size up, beware it will be a low neck. I like it when I wear it together with the pants because it looks like a set with the buttons. It is breathable and comfy. I'm a true Medium and purchased a small and large. I like the small best on me.
