Soft, exactly as described! I am 5'6 "and wear a size 2-4, so I purchased a size small and it's lovely!! I also purchased the off white/cream color, & the jean style. Great for girls night out, date-night, or dress it down with gap's awesome t-shirt line! I saw the less than awesome reviews but I bought it anyways. I LOVE IT! Size 4 hits mid thigh and feels good and hides the lady or gent's private bits by the bubble actually fit forming to the legs in a way that feels safe! No more blowing in the wind like the Scots in a kilt bare nude! Definitely a total winner!

I'm 5'2" and change and wear a 10 in Gap bottoms. I ordered a petite medium and was super excited. Always wanted a bubble skirt. It's 14" long, including the 1" waist band. I like a short skirt, but this barely covered my butt. The bubble shape made it look even shorter. I aggressively sized up to an XL regular. This one is 15" long including the waist band. But because it's so big on me - I don't need to unzip and should probably sew up the waist a bit- it hangs off my hips. The petite medium was right at my waist. The XL starts much lower on my torso and the skirt is now 3" above my knees. It looks awesome!!
