About two months ago, I purchased my first pair in the baggy style, with frayed side-seams in a light wash and absolutely loved them. I usually order jeans in Short, and the inseam is usually perfect for my height. A week ago, I decided to order more to add for my fall wardrobe. I ordered in the bor...deaux and the rinsed indigo, both 31S (not petite, regular). Both were significantly longer than my initial pair (around 2 inches, though the descriptions of my first pair and these, the Short inseams are the same). I decided to keep the rinsed indigo since I didn't mind the length so much and figured I can have it tailored if it really bothers me. The fit around the hip-waist was comfortable. The bordeaux pair was weirdly tight around the hips-waist and so decided to return.
I measured myself according to the size guide and ordered what I thought would be one fitted size to sit at my waist and one looser to sit at my hips. The looser size, which is labeled as a 33 inch waist is actually a 40 inch waist and the legs are so insanely wide I could probably conceal at least ...2 small children inside each pant leg. The smaller size, labeled as a 31 inch waist is actually a 36 inch waist. So I guess just do what the gap does and don't actually measure anything, just use your intuition to label the size and take a guess when you order, but actually size down by at least two sizes vs your actual measurements. Sucks bc now all the other sizes are sold out and had they fit they might have actually been cute in Y2K massively baggy jeans kind of way. So thanks Gap, for trying to convince people they're smaller than they are by weirdly messing with your size labels. I knew there was a reason I haven't shopped here in years.

I purchased these hoping for a slimmer fit like what is seen on the model, but realized they are fairly wide in the leg after receipt. I was debating about sending them back but then I tried them on. They are so soft and comfortable and after wearing them for a day, I am now purchasing another pair. I initially purchased a 32 long as I am 5'7, 160 lbs, and I am going to size down to compensate for the loser fit around the hips. I looooove these jeans.
