I have a bigger waist and smaller hips/thighs. I purchased a Tall XL and usually wear 16/18 (34 in gap jeans). I'm 5'6" but mature and chubby, so I do not want short shorts. I can see how these would not be a favorite for people who need more room in the thighs, but for my Apple-shape they worked. I... like the idea of them, but agree that the denim is too heavy and would be better if it was a lighter weight fabric. I really wish Gap would make a few longer inseam options, or make their Talls 2-3 inches longer instead of just 1. Also you need to carry Tall XXL and Petite XL/XXL. I'm definitely keeping, and would buy again for a lighter weight fabric.
I'm a pretty consistent size 4 at gap and while the size small shorts were roomie in the waist I found the snugger fit in the hips and thighs unflattering. The fabric also while soft is kinda thick for a summer short.

Love how they have just enough stretch but still keep their structure throughout the day. The lighter wash color is perfect. Thick high quality material but not too weighty or hot. I'm 5'7" and the length/inseam is perfection for a pair of shorts. Love these for my 6 weeks postpartum body - comfy and very flattering. Got the medium.

Fit was true to size - I typically wear a medium (size 6 or 8) and bought a medium hoping for a more baggy fit. They are relaxed around the leg and fit comfortably around my waist like I wanted. The length is good for a busy mom constantly bending over to deal with children. I removed one star as the color is a lot more acid wash than the photo, which I don't love but can deal with.

These shorts are the best thing ever after having a baby, I have been wearing them nonstop since I got them! They're great for that in between when you don't fit in your normal clothes but maternity is too big. I'm usually a medium, sometimes a large for postpartum. Because these are baggy, I went with medium and they fit perfectly. I'll definitely be able to wear them as my body shifts back to normal too. Exactly what I needed to make getting dressed less stressful!!

I wanted so badly to love these shorts. The drawstring is my summer obsession but I couldn't keep them. I ordered two sizes, one M and one M Tall. The wash/color was different across each pair and the sizing just didn't work. I wish the back pockets were more refined. It's hard to imagine the large square box pockets are flattering on any figure. Here's hoping for something better next season.
