I loved these until I washed them. The shrunk and now the pockets hang out lower than the hemline of the shorts. I'm returning them (3 pair) even though theyve been washed.

These are the only sweat shorts I buy my 7 year old son and I've been buying them for years. He is tall with a very small waist and finding pants that fit is a big challenge. He wears a 6/7 currently in this style and they stay on his waist and aren't shorty shorts, huge win! I also love that they are 83% cotton as I prefer natural fabrics when possible. Despite them being cotton they have not shrunk in the wash and the black pairs have not faded a bit. These are a high quality, thicker knit fabric with some structure, so the shorts look good paired with polos for school days. The zipper pockets are just another bonus as my kid is always stashing treasures. I hope gap always sells this style.
