Northern California has been super hot and I ordered these to replace a pair of denim shorts. I'm 5'1 and ordered the blue in size M, the petite version was out of stock so I got the tall. I actually prefer the longer short, it still hits a couple of inches above the knee and is roomy enough to get ...good airflow. My phone fits comfortably in the pockets without falling out. I haven't taken the seam out of the butt pockets but I think my phone could fit in there too. It's nice to have 4 pockets total especially in a short that I'll be using a lot around the house.
I would have loved to have some white shorts for summer. It seemed like finding such a basic would be doable across 5 Gap brands, but it's been impossible to find. These shorts in "new off white" are so "off" white that I don't understand why they don't just call them cream and save the customers an...d stores from the hassle of returns. The only other "white" shorts at Gap are the downtown chinos, and the name is also "new off white" so I hope I can assume correctly that those are also not white and save some time trying those. Why not make one in white and one in cream, though? I'll start hoping for next year...
