Three years ago I wanted a trench coat like this, and couldn't find one anywhere that I liked. I love GAP, because I routinely find pieces that are constructed well, if simply, and have better-than-average fabrics. For those that want to do better than fast fashion, and want both classic and trend-s...etting styles that will last, GAP has been my friend, and when my job changed they were my go-to for an updated work wardrobe. Why? Balance of good quality, and price points I could afford. So for Pros of this trench coat: good cut, nice clean lines, length of coat is slimming, fabric is cotton+polyester so styling is easier (haven't had to steam it thus far), mid-weight fabric (I live in NC, so I can wear Fall/Winter/Spring). Cons: relaxed fit outerwear is still trending, so sizing is about a size larger than usual and may seem tricky to navigate. I take a Small at GAP in everything, and the XS fits well (passes the "cross your arms in front" shoulder test). I bought Mesculen Green.
First off, this is an absolutely beautiful coat. I love the color and the fabric is more than I was expecting for the price. Unfortunately, the sizing on this thing is insane. I ordered my regular size (large) and am absolutely swimming in this coat; I look like a child trying on their parent's c...lothing. I had to check the label when I tried it on as I thought they had mistakenly sent me a 2 or 3x. I'd definitely recommend ordering 2 sizes down on this one. I personally like the longer length as I am on the tall side, but for those of more average height the length is probably going to be an issue as well.

I really liked the fit of this coat and the fact that it's quite long for a trench coat. Hits me mid calf when not tied up. Still haven't decided if I'm keeping it as I thought it was lined and it's not. I got it on sale as well not sure if pay full process for it due to no lining.

A classic staple for every wardrobe. Definitely oversized, so as they advise, size down unless that's what you're going for. Nice, heavyweight fabric, unlined. A hood would be an amazing feature, but I appreciate that's not typical on most trenches.

This is a nice jacket but it is only lined in the sleeves? The entire rest of the jacket is unlined. Never seen such a thing. Other reviews make this seem enormous but I'd say it's just meant to be oversized. If you want a slimmer/classic fit, just size 1 down. I'm 5'2" and usually a 12 at Gap and the petite large is perfectly oversized but not sloppy looking. Good for a more relaxed look + to wear a sweater underneath. Fabric is also a bit stiffer than I'd like but I'm sure that helps it be more water resistant.
