I am 5'7 and a very muscular/curvy bum with a small waist, so I decided to get a medium in this, since I didn't want it to be both short AND too tight (in my mid 30s) although I assumed I was between sizes. what I didn't take into account is that this is truly "low waisted" as described, and so it sits lower on the hips and is therefore cut more generously. I returned the medium because it was so loose on my waist, and am going to try the small, but do not have high hopes it will work out. the fabric was GREAT a nice weight and drape to it, and the underneath shorts were not a sloppy unseen add-on; they are nicely cut and comfortable shorts. the side slits make this skort much more interesting and unique than the MANY other similar products I've seen both from gap and elsewhere. I will say, I thought the medium was not too short on me nor too "young" but I am worried the small won't have the same effect. I have long legs for 5'7 and typically order tall in dresses or long in gap pants. I like my figure and am happy for nicely tailored clothes but I am not someone who dresses like still in their 20s. I hope this review will help someone who needs good details even if they have a diff body type and diff preferences for fit than I do!
