I didn't understand the reviews but now I do. When the jeans are on, you see white liner coming out of the pockets and there's no way to fix it. Absolutely a defect; I ordered two pairs and the other pair did not have this issue. Total shame because the fit and look is otherwise one of the best.
I'm utterly astonished as to how anyone could consider these slim fit. They are absolutely massive. I have an athletic build with uncommonly large calves and thighs, and I'm swimming in these, which harkens back to my early 90's days as a teen, but I digress. We're talking what seems like orders of ...magnitude too large! I have the exact same version of these jeans in grey, but those are made with 65% cotton, whereas Gap's current slim fit lineup are majority Tencel. The grey version is the ONLY slim fit jean that Gap currently sells that are actually slim. Stay away from the Tencel version, grab the grey one, and wait for Gap to release actual slim fit jeans.

It doesn't fit like other slim fit jeans from Gap, more like a skinny fit. I have fairly skinny legs and these jeans fit like a sausage. The black one has a shiny look and a weird texture. Washing it will take away some of the shine but it'll shrink the jeans to the point that they are almost unwearable.
