The fabric has quite a bit of stretch to it, something I didn't notice, but, which is great, as it "gives" when sitting down, entering a car, etc. Sheath dresses can be snug. I have an older GAP denim dress in a similar style (round neck but buttons) and I wanted to order another. I ordered the blue denim plaid and it definitely was a very stretchy denim. Unfortunately, for a medium, it was way too short. I'm about 5'7-5'8 and the medium did not work for me length wise to wear to school, but everything else was perfect (though I have a smaller chest and wider hips). My vintage version had at least another 4 inches as a medium, this one was barely half an inch from my finger tips.
