Great tee
This tee is ideal for undershirts for your polos. Often times you get tees that are too loose under a polo and end up moving all over the placer making you look sloppy. This polo (if purchased at your right size) will look put together when wearing a polo over it. When purchasing this tee..make sure you know the purpose and how you like your tees to fit in relation with the rest of your overall look. If you want a perfect tee that sits unmoved underneath a polo, then get your exact fit size. I'm 6-1/225lbs I normally get a 3XL when ordering graphic tees..maybe a 2XL if they run big but when going with an undershirt I go a size smaller so it's usually XL or 2XL depending on the company fit guide. In this case I order a 2XL from Gap because they run smaller on all of their fits from jeans to shirts, etc. It's not a tight fit, it's just a fit that doesn't compromise comfort when wearing a polo over it. This is a greatt tee for that.

They could be better
I don't know what everybody else is talking about, but these shirts are great! Sure the fabric is very thin and "looks" like it could fall apart, but that doesn't mean that it will. I've kept these shirts for quite a while (I think it was in June when I bought five of these) and I've washed them almost every week, and they're still in great shape. But they still could be better. The fabric could be a bit thicker, and still be tight around my body. And the last thing that I wish Gap would do with these shirts would be if they could give them more colors.

Super Comfy Essential!
I recently had double mastectomy surgery & needed loose, yet soft shirts to wear, esp at bedtime! I absolutely LOVE the Essential Tee! Thanks for making such a comfy, cozy, breathable shirt!

it''s a decent tee shirt
it is a perfectly normal tee shirt, save for being a little softer than most. i had thought it would be thicker fabric, but the fact that it is not is not a defect -- it does not feel flimsy, just lightweight.

Fits good, but arms stick out
I am really confused with clothe designers inability to make short sleeves that come down your arm and not stick out off your arm. It looks like the shirts don't fit properly when the sleeves stick out. I have to take all my shirts in to have them altered so they go down my arm and not out. I'm not talking about looking like I'm showing off muscle I mean just have the sleeves go down. It's so weird. These shirts will stick out. They are also slightly smaller then you'd expect, but more how they should be. They are not overly wide in the body and are extra long so you can wash and dry them and not worry about them shrinking up too much.

It''s All about the COLOR
I recently got boardshorts @ GAP 'n this tee matches nicely. Can't go wrong, esp @ the sale price.

Husband loves!
Nice tee, very soft. Husband loves them. Slimmer fit. Definitely more of a fashion tee and not a hardworking basic. Some great cool colors like the dark purple and brick (not the right names). Bought six on sale.

Shirts great but changing
As @Lliz13 said, these shirts don't feel the same as the 90s and early 2000s. To me they're this over soft water repelling fabric. I miss the plain thin cotton shirts. Would love to see some plain organic cotton ... shirts in the line up. I have one from Banana Republic and love it. Still good shirts, just different. Size is right on though.

Regarding this New Crewneck T Shirt I wanted to say a few things, in the hopes that the Gap will better improve it.The shirt overall fits nicely, except that it needs to be an inch or two longer (and for the fact that these shirts always shrink), and the sleeves need to be a little longer, they are too girly, not manly enough; a man's sleeve should come down longer, otherwise he looks too feminine. Also the colour of this shirt was awful, just awful, that is why I had to return it. I was under the impression that it was going to be the colour RED, which it is not; it is an orangey red, which just looks very silly and unuseable, and not practical at all. Please, Gap, please just come out with a plain true RED crewneck ... shirt, it is one of the best colours on the market. You should also make your longsleeve crewneck shirts in the colour red also (I am referring to those ones that have the banded cuffs). Those longsleeve shirts are your best item your have, and the colours white and black are essential, and you must always have those, but you should really add the colour true RED as well. (And please make the cuffs tighter, and not so loose.)

Looks Good
Soft, nicely fitted (yet not skin tight), and the blaze orange color is beautiful. These shirts looks great on the hubs and he is very happy with the fit and feel of these shirts. Worth the money, a good buy that is versatile and is nicely made with good fabric.

Finally! The perfect V neck Tee
I never write reviews for clothing. In fact, this is my first one because these shirts are perfect. Before buying these, I had bought a LOT of different v necks from different stores, and I was still searching for a great tee. I wanted a nice fit. I am tall, so some mediums would be too short, but large would be too wide. These fit me pefectly. I also didn't want too deep of a v neck. Many others I've tried are too deep. Also, some that I've tried the neck is too wide. These, again, are perfect. Lastly, many that I've tried, the fabric is too thin, and they don't hold up well after washing. These are great. I will be buying every color!

Just what I wanted...
Bought this tee in x small for myself. The fabric is soft, the fit is loose and it washed nicely. Great for a casual, relaxed look.

Great ... shirt
These shirts are a great light weight material that is easy to wear during a TX summer. They fit really well (they are especially not too long with sleeves that are not too short) and I wear them for pretty much any casual occasion from working around the house to hanging out with friends.

Retains its soft texture still after 10+ washes
What I like MOST is after many washes it does NOT get a gritty or linty texture on the cotton. The softness is retained. I loved it so much I went back to the same store and purchased 18 more shirts, totaling 25 v neck shirts all together. So many colors to choose from too.

got holes after a few washes
I loved these tshirts for my husband, was the perfect casual tee, and he liked them too. They are not as slim fit as he would like but good enough...But now that hes worn them a few times so far 2 out of the 4 that I bought have little holes. i guess thats what happnes when the material is so thin. this never happened to his tshirts before, maybe these should be washed in a mesh bag, but this is supposed to be a tshirt not a delicate item.

I kinda like it
I am a woman and purchased a few of these for the gym. I was looking for an oversized shirt that would drape well. These drape okay...but the bodice is a little narrower than I would like. It is not slim fit, but it is not super roomy either. I'm not really truly delighted with the fit, but the fabric is very nice and soft- even softer than the supersoft tee. The fabric is just a little thicker than the supersoft, but I feel with continued use, it will conform to my body and fit better.

Tighter than I hoped for
I couldn't pass up these shirts when I saw them on sale. With the additional discount I received, the shirts came out to [$]each, a superb deal. The shipping was free (always a bonus) and quick, less than 4 days. I opened the package and two of colors were not what I expected and didn't match the web page but I decided to keep them. The fit is a little snug but I'll wear them uder other shirts so no real big deal. Overall, good shirt.

Not so great...
Ladies, if you are shopping for your Big and Tall man...(emphasis on Big) than these shirts are probably a miss. My boyfriend wears them as undershirts due to the thin material. This is a great look but I have found that the shirts don't truly hold up to my guys level of wear and tear. Holes have appeared in various parts of the torso area and seams have unraveled after only a few weeks. Then again I would never pay full price for this item, I've only purchased them on sale. And one other thing: if you have a larger midsection I would definitely, definitely opt for the Tall. I got my guy the 3x but realized afterwards that I would have preferred the 3xT to ensure that shrinkage would not prevent these from being wearable as a top shirt. They shrunk considerably length wise but at least they still accommodate my guys massive shoulders. I will say that he does get a lot of use out of them as undershirts though. The colors are nice and the material is soft. Just don't expect amazing quality.

its all fine...except the shipping.
I ordered 5 shirts. I received 4. one shirt optic white they didn't have in stock, although I did get one of them because I ordered two. 7-9 days for shipping was about 9-13 days. And shirts are a different fit then the last set of essentials I bought. I still like them. but not as much as the previous ones. Gap feels like they change their patterns too often. I wanted some plain shirts that fit well. I found them. then when I came back. I found something that will work. I thought they had these shirts locked down for me. but I suppose I need to start searching again.

REALLY REALLY thin V necks...
I've noticed that the Gap's ... shirts in general have really gone down in their standard quality, they're still extremely soft, but not even comparable to last years. I'm not sure if they wanted to make the ... shirts lighter, but now they're much to tight in the chest and loose on the torso. I also noticed that the length has become much much longer. The shirt shows off your nipples and honestly, I'm not interested in head lights. The medium was way to loose in my stomach and way to tight in my chest. I'm 5'9 and I'd say just about average and this ... shirt could pass off as a mini dress... Please Gap, bring back your old ... shirts quick!!!
